“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” — Nelson Mandela
Yesterday, March 19th, was Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, a holiday created by Camp Fire, a multicultural and non-sectarian youth development organization.
It's in our 2020 Guinea Pig Calendar (do you have a copy yet? we still have about 50 calendars left) for this Saturday, March 21st, but apparently it's a "floating" holiday and that was LAST YEAR's date. (D'oh!)
But we're not going to let that oversight stop us from celebrating it! (And we'll make sure we get it right in the 2021 calendar.)
Many of you have just spent a week or more holed up with your kiddos trying to keep a routine of school and work during our "temporary normal."
So you might not be feeling like your kids are the most incredible right now. ;-)
But if you'd take a moment to write a note to your child(ren), however short, however long, telling them why you think they are a pretty awesome part of your family, and share it with me either via email or through the jookie social media pages, I will enter each note into a Giveaway for a $50 Gift Card to Timeless Toys, our Absolutely Incredible Neighborhood Toy Store.
(Pictured here is Timeless Toys owner Scottie Friedland delivering a Mr. Potato Head to jookie on his bike the other day. BTW: save the day for April 30th, National Mr. Potato Head Day!)
Three ways to submit your Absolutely Incredible Kid note/entry:
1) email the text or a photo of the note to firstname.lastname@example.org
2) write the text, or post a photo of the note, in a comment on the jookie Facebook page: Facebook.com/jookiekids
3) write the text, or post a photo of the note, in a comment on the jookie Instagram page: Instagram.com/jookiekids
NOTE: emailed notes may be shared on social media, particularly if the winning note was emailed. Winner to be randomly drawn Tuesday, March 24th - please submit your note by 9 am that day.
You may enter as many notes for as many children as you are the parent of! (One note/entry per child.)
