Announcing jookie’s limited-time Valentine specialty session: Born to Shine. Inspired by sparkly, magical lights which reflect the sparkly magic of the children we know and love. As always, the Valentine promotion is a fundraiser for Saving tiny Hearts Society.
Intrigued by the Vivian Maier nanny photographer story?
jookie’s owner, Jill Liebhaber, learned photography from Northwestern professor Pamela Bannos, author of Vivian Maier: A Photographer’s Life and Afterlife, which demsytifies “the Maier myth”. Since a recent New York Times review about her book, Pam is being invited to do many talks, well into 2019. Pam has graciously agreed to give one at jookie, specially customized toward Maier’s photos of children
That’s right – I’m usually closed over Christmas to New Year’s, but THIS YEAR I’ll be taking some vacation ahead of time so that I can be available for family sessions while you’ve got your loved ones all together.
As a family photographer, I’m inclined to consider family portraits one of the best gifts ever. After all, it’s what I gift my siblings and parents each year because it’s their favorite thing – and honestly, mine, too. I get to spend time with my loved ones while making fun memories and we all end up with beautiful photography. Which is why I’m making buying a jookie gift certificate this holiday season even more special… I’ve only offered this one other time in jookie’s 11 year history: purchase a gift certificate by December 18th, and I will add 20% additional value to it!
Our beneficiary this year for the 12th annual Halloween Photo Fundraiser was The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights who jookie started fundraising for back in the Spring through our Square Kids event. We raised about $900 then, and now with the Halloween event, and the collaboration of 74 kids and parents in costumes, we are now over $3800 in donations this year to help them in the incredibly important work they do to aid unaccompanied immigrant children trying to make their way to a safer place in the world.

Thanks to the fabulous volunteers for the Horner Park Dog Park, 25 local families, and their furry kids, we raised $1500
